Their provenance was 'We addressed Sir John Malcolm of Balbeadie on the subject of his Tartan, and enclosed a specimen, which the worthy Baronet acknowledges to be correct.' D. C. Stewart notes in his Nomindex 'Remarkable similarity to the Double Davidson.'
